Subfamilia: CERAMBYCINAE  /  Tribus: CLYTINI

Clytus taurusiensis

Clytus taurusiensis is a species endemic to SW Turkey (Taurus and Nurdag Mts.). The species is mainly associated with Ficus carica but there are indications that it might be polyphagous in broad-leaved trees.

Body length:6 - 10 mm
Life cycle:2 years [?]
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:Ficus carica
Distribution:an endemic species to Turkey

The depicted beetle was collected in Namrun (SW Turkey) on dead offspring of Ficus carica. Especially burned branches seemed to attract this nice longhorn beetle. It is a very quick running beetle and it is very difficult to catch it.
