The left picture shows a very typical gallery system created by larvae of Clytus tropicus in the bark of oak. As you can see, each gallery is filled with a dark brown frass. The colour of the frass changes to white in the vicinity of the place where the larva entered the sapwood. The right picture shows a barkless trunk with galleries created by larvae of Clytus tropicus. In the picture you can see the place where the larva entered the sapwood. The hole is filled with a white frass. Close to this entrance hole you can see the opening the adult used for leaving the pupal cell.
