The biology of this species is identical to Pedostrangalia revestita (Linnaeus, 1767). The larval substrate comprises dead, moisture rich dark red wood in contact with living tissue of deciduous trees.

Distribution:south coast of Caspian Sea, from Azerbaidjan through North Iran to Kopet-Dag

The beetle in the picture was collected together with several larvae in Quercus in Golestan forest 45 km NE Minudast (prov. Khorasan, North Iran).
