Larvae of Purpuricenus nicocles develop in living branches of Quercus alnifolia. Pupation takes place in the autumn and adults overwinter in the pupal cells. The adults emerge early in the following spring. The beetles in the pictures were reared from oak twigs collected in Troodos Mts. (CYPRUS). Collected by M.Rejzek.
