This massive species develops in roots of Ferula plants (Rejzek and Hoskovec, 1999). It was described from South-West Syria but is quite broadly distributed in the Near East and Asia Minor where it forms several subspecies.
The depicted beetles were collected on the host plant (Ferula) in plateaus under the peak region of Nemrut Dagi Mt. (Adiyaman prov., Anatolia, SE Turkey). Collected by M.Hoskovec.
