Tetropium gabrieli is a species distributed in Central Europe and some adjacent areas like France, Germany, Great Britain, and Denmark. It is very common throughout Central Europe in planted larch woods. It develops in larch (Larix decidua). Larvae feed under or in the bark of diseased or dying trees, in standing or fallen trunks and in thick branches. Tetropium gabrieli is a crepuscular nocturnal species.
The beetles in the pictures were reared from the thick bark of a Larix decidua stump collected in Klánovice (Prague, Czech Republic). Collected by M.Hoskovec and M.Rejzek.
