Phytoecia rubropunctata, a widely distributed but rare and very local European Phytoecia, has been described from Paris environs (France) as Leptura rubropunctata by Johann August Ephraim Goeze in 1777 [✮]. According to Carlo Sturani Phytoecia (Musaria) rubropunctata develops in roots and basal parts of Trinia glauca (Apiaceae) [❖] .

Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:April - June
Host plant:Trinia glauca, Seseli montanum (preferred host plant in France, Hervé Brustel, personal communication)
Distribution:Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine


The depicted beetles were found on its host plant at Bollenberg hill (Westhalten environs, Alsace, North France) on April 24, 2018.
