Phytoecia (Neomusaria) salvicola has been described by Carolus Holzschuh from Harput (S of Elazığ, Elazığ province, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey) in 1989. The species is accociated with Salvia candidissima [❖] and probably also with another Salvia species.

Body length:9 - 14 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:Salvia spp. (Salvia candidissima)
Distribution:Armenia, Syria, Turkey


The mounted beetle was collected on the host plant in Harput (Turkey). The living one was reared from larva found in Salvia candidissima collected in the same locality.
