In the Mediterranean region Niphona picticornis is a relatively common and a broadly polyphagous
species. Larvae feed in dead branches and trunks of Ficus, Spartium, Castanea,
Ulmus, Morus, Punica, Quercus, Sambucus, Laurus, Cercis,
Pistacia, Rhamnus, etc.

The beetles in the pictures were reared from a dead branch of Ficus carica collected in Ithilo (SW Peloponnese, Greece).
