Parmena meregallii, a species with relatively small area of occurence in Catalonia and Pyrénées-Orientales, has been described as Parmena balteus meregallii by Gianfranco Sama in 1984 [❖]. Into species rank it was elevated by the same author in 1992 [✧].

Body length:4 - 6 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:adults hatch in March and as in other Parmena live for many months
Host plant:Helleborus, Hedera helix, Ficus carica, Pinus, Malus
Distribution:central and NE Spain and SW France


The depicted beetles were collected in: ♂ Seva environs (Osona comarca, Barcelona province, Catalonia, Spain) on May 5, 2014; ♀ Berga environs (Osona comarca, Barcelona province, Catalonia, Spain) on April 1, 2017.
