Pogonocherus anatolicus

Pogonocherus anatolicus, a species known from Turkey, Syria and Cyprus, has been described from Adalia environs (Turkey) by Karl Daniel and Josef Daniel in 1898 [▽]. This rare species develops in recently dead twigs and branches of a variety of pine (Pinus spp.) tree species.

Body length:4 - 6 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:March - July
Host plant:various pine (Pinus spp.) species
Distribution:Turkey, Syria and Cyprus [❖]


The depicted beetle was reared from larva found in pine twig collected in Kemer environs (Antalya province, Turkey) in 2013.
