Pygoptosia eugeniae, a species occuring in West Iran and East Turkey, has been described as Phytoecia (Conizonia) Eugeniae from "Persien" by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1884 [▽]. According to Martin Rejzek et al. [✧] Pygoptosia eugeniae develops in Centaurea behen (Asteraceae). Adults of this striking species can be found sitting under the basal leaves of the host plant.

The depicted mounted beetles were collected by David Navrátil on Centaurea behen in Saqqez (سقز) environs (1484 m a.s.l., Zagros Mts., Saqqez county, Ostān-e Kordestān province, NW Iran) on May 27, 2017. The living beetles were collected on Centaurea behen in Līkbīn (لكبن) village environs (1630-2125 m a.s.l., Lajan district, Piranshahr county, Āzarbāyjān-e Gharbī province, NW Iran) on June 3, 2018.
