Trichoferus spartii

Trichoferus spartii, species distributed in Balcan and Apennine peninsulae coastal regions, was described from Istria by Giuseppe Müller in 1948 [❖]. Although not a rare species, due to its hidden development in the living branches of various shrubs and its nocturnal way of life, it does not belong to the commonly collected longhorn beetles.

Host plant:Spartium, Rhus, Paliurus, Coronilla
Distribution:Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Crete, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Turkey


The depicted mounted specimens were collected in Primošten environs (Šibenik-Knin county, Dalmatia, Croatia) on July 23-31, 2012.
