Crossotus vagepictus, a representative of African entomofauna extending in the north of its distribution range to the Arabian Peninsula [✮], has been described from Somalia as Dichostates vagepictus by Léon Marc Herminie Fairmaire in 1886 [✧].

Body length:8.5 - 13 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:almost whole year, depends on region
Host plant:Vachellia spp. (= former Acacia)
Distribution:Yemen, Africa (Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Niger, Somalia, Sudan)


Depicted beetles collected in Huluul village environs (N09°58′40″ E46°41′40″; 820 m a.s.l., Sanaag region, Somaliland) on October 10, 2021.
