Eumecocera impustulata, a species of North Asian deciduous and mixed forests known from Russia, North-East China, Japan, and Korea, has been described from "Siberia Orientalis" as Saperda impustulata by Victor Ivanovitsch Motschulsky in 1860 [▽][✮]. E. impustulata larvae develop in weakened living twigs and branches of many deciduous trees species. Larvae feed subcortically, creating longitudinal galleries filled with fine frass. In thin-barked twigs, galleries are deeply impressed in the sapwood, but not in thick-barked branches. Last instar larvae enter the sapwood and there in its upper layer create a short gallery finished by pupal cell with frass-filled entrance hole. Life cycle 2 years. Adults, active in June and July (Russia), can be found on the leaves and shoots of the host trees [❖].

Body length:9 - 14 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:June - July
Host plant:broadly polyphagous in deciduous trees (Prunus maackii, Salix, Quercus, Sorbus, Tilia, Acer tegmentosum, Prunus armeniaca, Juglans mandshurica, Corylus, Carpinus, Alnus japonica, Syringa vulgaris etc.)
Distribution:Russia (Siberia, Far East), North-East China, Japan and Korea

Depicted male beetle was collected in Tachingousa bay (Просёлочная) environs (Japan Sea coast, Lazovsky district, Primorsky Krai, Far Eastern Federal district, Russia) on July 2-5, 2010.
