Acanthocinus henschi, a predominantly Balcan species distributed from South Austria and North-Eastern Italy to Greece, has been described from Bosnia as Acanthocinus (Astynomus) Henschi by Edmund Reitter in 1900 [❖]. Larvae of this very rare species develop in dying (or freshly dead) branches of coniferous trees, especially in pines (Pinus nigra), but reported was also from Picea. Adults, active from June to August, are crepuscular/nocturnal and can be found on the host trees.
