A common species in Europe inhabiting mountainous to sub-mountainous coniferous forests. The beetles on flowers were photographed in Spišská Nová Ves (NE Slovakia) and the female ovipositing into a pine (Pinus nigra) in Jena (Thüringen, Germany).
