Cerambyx paludivagus, a rare and not often collected Maghrebian species occuring in Algeria and Tunisia, has been described from Lake Tonga environs (Algeria) as Hamaticherus paludivagus by Pierre Hippolyte Lucas in 1842 [❖]. C. paludivagus differs from its closest relative Cerambyx scopolii by pronotum and basal half of elytra with long erect setae, hind femora densely clothed with long golden hair, on the upper side, with dense recumbent pubescence and some longer setae erect or bent backwards on the inferior side [✮]. The biology of this species is essentially the same as that of Cerambyx scopolii [✳].
