Conizonia arestenii, an endemic species to Morocco, has been described from Casablanca environs (Morocco) by Maurice Pic in 1951 [❖]. Larvae of C. arestenii develop in the roots of Centaurea seridis. Larva pupate in the bottom part of the host plant stem during November and freshly emerged adults can be collected in pupal cells from mid-December. Species is very abundant in the coastal dunes between Rabat and Safi, where grows its host plant. [✧][★]

The depicted mounted beetles were: ♂ - collected in Oucassa beach (Rabat environs, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Morocco) in April 1982; ♀ - reared from stem of Centaurea seridis found in Plage de Sidi Abd héraman (C. Aresten, Morocco) on April 15, 1957.
