Beautiful, rare and endemic Dorcadion buresi, described by Czech entomologist František Štěrba from Xanthi (North Greece) in 1922 [❖], is thanks its size, body shape and intensive white-grey pubescence (in look more similar to Central-Asian Dorcadion species) really unique beetle among European members of the genus.

Body length:♂♂ 17-19 mm / ♀♀ 18-21 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:March - June
Host plant:roots of grasses (Poaceae)
Distribution:an endemic species to North Greece


The depicted mounted beetles were found on Kromnikón Mt. near Xanthi (700-860 m a.s.l., Galani environs, East Macedonia, Greece) on May 15-16,2016. The living specimens were photographed near Xanthi (Galani environs, East Macedonia, Greece) in April 2016.
