Dorcadion ninae, a rare endemic Dorcadion to South-Eastern Kazakhstan, has been described from Kanshengel village environs by Mikhail Danilevsky in 1995 [✧]. D. ninae, species close to Dorcadion pantherinum Jakovlev, 1899, inhabits sagebrush (Artemisia) plain transitional zone between clay and sand desert.

Body length:♂ 16.4 - 20 mm / ♀ 17.6 - 22.5 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:late April - first half of May
Host plant:roots of various grass species (Poaceae)
Distribution:an endemic species to South-Eastern Kazakhstan


The depicted beetles were collected 16 km S of Kanshengel (Қаншеңгел) village (N44°10′15″ E75°30′45″; 550 m a.s.l., Zhambyl district, Almaty region, Kazakhstan) on April 29, 2015.
