Dorcadion sulcipenne is a Caucasian/Transcaucasian taxon described from Georgia by Heinrich Carl Küster in 1847 [✮]. D. sulcipenne argonauta, a subspecies known from Eastern Turkey and Armenia, has been originally described as Dorcadion argonauta from Kisilkom* village environs (Erivan Governorate, Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire) by Georgy Suvorov in 1913 [❖]. However, according to Maxim Lazarev [✧], this taxon is not a separate species but a subspecies of Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) sulcipenne Küster, 1847.
*Kisilkom is listed as a type locality in the description, but on the type label is written Kisilkotch, which means Kzyl-Koch/Kizilkoch, nowadays Ashotsk (Աշոցքú), a village and rural community (municipality) in the Shirak Province of Armenia. [☆]
