The first mention of the name unidiscale for Dorcadion (as Dorcadion (Pedestredorcadion) Matthieseni m. Unidiscale Breuning) appears in the literature in 1946 [❖]. Mikhail L. Danilevsky elevated this form to the subspecies of D. globithorax [✧] and later to a separate species, Dorcadion (Acutodorcadion) unidiscale [▽].
Dorcadion unidiscale, an endemic species to South-Eeastern Kazakhstan, is known from only a single population that is distributed in the Kaskelen river valley on the northern slopes of the Trans-Ili Mountains [▽]. The larvae of D. unidiscale, a species inhabiting midmontane meadows at altitudes of 1500–2000 m a.s.l., feed on the roots of various grass species. The adults are active from the beginning of May to the first half of June [✮] .
