Eodorcadion tuvense, an endemic species of South Siberia, has been described from Chadan encirons (Republic of Tuva, Russia) by Nicolai Nicolaevitch Plavilstshikov in 1958 [✳]. The species occurs in stepe and forest-steppe habitats above up to 1200 m a.s.l. Several known localites are very dese populated. Larvae develop in roots of various grass species (e.g. Agropyron, Poaceae). Young larvae create galleries inside grass roots, later instars can be found in soil, where they feed on grass roots. Pupation from June to July in soil after second overwintering (life cycle 2 years) under soil surface. Adults, active from June to August, are anthophilous (observed from late morning to dusk with peak in afternoon) and feed on grass plants, often climb up along its stems. In hot days beetles disappear at about noon [❖].

Body length:♂♂ 12.3 – 20.5 mm / ♀♀ 16.8 – 24 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:June – August (peak in July)
Host plant:roots of various grass species (e.g. Agropyron, Poaceae)
Distribution:an endemic species of South Siberia (Republic of Tuva, Russia)

The depicted male beetle (17 mm) was collected in Bazhin Alaak (Бажын-Алаак) village environs (900–1050 m a.s.l., 5–10 km SE Chadan, W Tannu-Ola mountain range, Republic of Tuva/Tyva, Russia) on July 8–9, 2021.
