Iberodorcadion abulense abulense, an endemic species to Central Spain, has been described from Ávila province as Dorcadion abulense by Jorge Lauffer in 1902 [❖]. This beautiful beetle represents taxon with an extraordinary morphological diversity in coloration.

Body length:10 - 16 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:March - May
Host plant:roots and basal stem parts of Poaceae
Distribution:an endemic species to Central Spain (Castile and León: Ávila province)


Depicted mounted beetles were collected in Puerto de la Paramera pass (1395 m a.s.l., Sierra de la Paramera, Ávila province, Castile and León, Spain) on April 16, 2011.
