Iberodorcadion ferdinandi

Iberodorcadion ferdinandi, an endemic species occuring in Andalusia (South Spain), has been described from Granada province as Dorcadion Ferdinandi by Manuel Martínez de la Escalera y Pérez de Rozas in 1900 [❖]. Some interesting data about biology of the Iberodorcadion ferdinandi can be found in paper by Alberto del Saz Fucho from 2013 [▿]

Body length:12 - 13 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:April - June
Host plant:roots of grasses - Poaceae, Juncaceae (Ampelodesmos sp., Dactylis sp., Juncus acutus, Phalaris canariensis, Poa sp., Stipa sp., etc.)
Distribution:Almería and Granada provinces (Andalusia, Spain)


Depicted mounted beetles were reared ex ovo in 2003. Parents collected in Galera environs (Granada province, Andalusia, Spain) in 2002.
