Leiopus kharazii, a rare species occuring in a relatively small area of Azerbaijan and North Iran, has been described from Nowshahr environs (North Iran) by Carolus Holzschuh in 1974 [✱].

Body length:6 - 10 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:probably polyphagous on deciduous trees, recorded from Tilia sp.
Distribution:Azerbaijan (Talysh), North Iran


The depicted beetle (8 mm) was collected in Peshtatuk village environs (Talysh Mts., Lerik district, Lankaran–Astara economic region, Azerbaijan) on June 7, 2008.
