Mesosa obscuricornis, a rare forest species occuring in Azerbaidjan, North Iran and Turkey, has been described from Lenkoran environs (Azerbaidjan) as Mesosa nebulosa var. obscuricornis by Maurice Pic in 1894 [✧].

Body length:9 - 15 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:polyphagous in deciduous trees
Distribution:Azerbaidjan, North Iran, Turkey [❖]


The depicted beetles were collected in vicinity of road from Tegran to Chalus (20 km to Chalus, 314 m a.s.l., Māzandarān province, Iran) on May 26, 2015.
