In Nemrut (SE Turkey) Musaria astarte lederi is regularly collected on a sg. Cynarae (Asteraceae) plant which most probably serves as its host (Rejzek et al. (2001)).

Body length:	9 - 20 mm
Life cycle:	1 year
Adults in:	May - July
Host plant:	thistles (sg. Cynarae)
Distribution:	Transcaucasia, Turkey, Near East

The beetle in the picture was collected on leaves of a thistle in the plateaus under the peak region of Nemrut Dagi Mt. (Adiyaman prov., Anatolia, SE Turkey).
