Nustera distigma, a West-Mediterranean species occuring in South France, Iberian peninsula and Maghreb, has been described from as Leptura distigma from Portugal by Toussaint Charpentier in 1825 [▿]. Larvae of this in coloration very variable beetle develop in decaying wood of deciduous and coniferous trees (Quercus, Pinus, Cedrus etc.). Life cycle at least 2 years. Adults, active from May to July, are diurnal and anthophilous [❖][✮].

The mounted beetles were collected on flowers in: ♂AC/♀B - Granadilla (N40°16′05″ W06°06′23″; 400 m a.s.l., Cáceres province, Extremadura, Spain) on May 3-4, 2017 (leg. M. Fiala and M. Jarouš); ♂B - Calera de León environs (Badajoz province, Extremadura, Spain) on June 7, 2010 (leg. Teodoro Alcantara); ♂D - Reserva Natural do Estuário do Sado (12 m a.s.l., Tróia peninsula, Setúbal district, Lisbon region, Portugal) on May 1-2, 2015 (leg. Jan Pelikán); ♂E - Lac des Escarcets environs (Réserve naturelle de la Plaine des Maures, Le Cannet-des-Maures, Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, France) on June 1, 2013 (leg. Ferdinand Holly); ♀A - Arroyomolinos de León environs (Huelva province, Andalusia, Spain) on June 6, 2007 (leg. T.A. Gonzales).The depicted living female beetles were collected on flowers (Apiaceae) in South France on May 22, 2022 by Petr Jelínek.
