This rare Parmena species, developing in dying twigs of Ficus carica, was described by Mikhail Danilevsky in 1980 [❖]. Parmena aurora, so far known only from Azerbaïdjan localities, was recently collected also in Iran.

Body length:6 - 9 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:common fig (Ficus carica)
Distribution:Azerbaïdjan, Iran


The depicted mounted beetles were collected at night on Ficus carica twigs ca 28 km E of Marzanabad (Māzandarān province, Iran) on May 18, 2018.
