Phytoecia flavescens, a species occuring in the South of Balcan Peninsula, has been described from Peloponnese (Greece) as Saperda flavescens by Auguste Gaspard Brullé in 1832 [▽]. Larvae of this beautiful Phytoecia develop in stalks and roots of thistles (Cirsium sp.). Adults, active from May to June, can be found on the host plant.

The depicted mounted beetle was collected on their host plant near Kastania (Καστανιά) village environs (1400 m, Taygetos Mts., Mesa Mani municipality, Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece) in June 2003. The living specimen (with very damaged toment and removed wided hairs) was collected in Arna (Άρνα) village environs (Taygetos Mts., Sparta municipality, Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece) on May 29, 2021,
