Phytoecia (Helladia) humeralis, a species occuring in South-Eastern Mediterranean region, Near East, Caucasus and Iran, has been described as Saperda humeralis from Turkey by Joseph Waltl in 1828 [✧].

Body length:5 - 12 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:April - June
Host plant:Centaurea hyalolepis, Silybum marianum [❖]
Distribution:Greece (Rhodos), Georgia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Iran


The mounted female beetle was collected in flight in Ölüdeniz environs (N36°52′ E29°13′; Fethiye district, Muğla Province, Turkey) on May 6, 2017. The living male beetle was collected on the host plant, knapweed Centaurea hyalolepis, in Akrotiri (South Cyprus).
