Phytoecia (Helladia) insignata, an interesting Helladia species occuring in Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, has been described from Sidon environs (Lebanon) by Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat in 1854 [✧]. P. insignata larvae develop in stalks and roots of Asteraceae (Silybum marianum, Centaurea hyalolepis). Adults, active from February to early May, are diurnal and can be collected on the host plants [✮][❖].

The depicted beetles were collected in Dana (ضانا) village environs (Busayra department, Tafilah governorate, Jordan) on April 12, 2022.
