Phytoecia (Musaria) tirellii, a rare endemic Italian (Apennine Mountains) species described by Paolo Luigioni in 1913 [❖], is developing in stalks of Crepis lacera (Asteraceae).

Body length:8 - 13 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:May - June
Host plant:Crepis lacera
Distribution:an endemic species to Italy


The depicted beetles were photographed by P. Jelínek on the host plant (Crepis lacera) in Monte Nerone (Appennino umbro-marchigiano, Pesaro-Urbino province, Italy) on June 3, 2017.
