Semanotus russicus is distributed in Europe (South-East and Central Europe), North Africa, Turkey, and Transcaucasia. It develops in conifers (Juniperus, Cedrus). Larvae feed under bark of dying or dead branches and trunks.

Adults in:	February - June

Distribution:	South-East and Central Europe, North Africa, Turkey, and Transcaucasia

The depicted beetles were reared from larvae found in a dying juniper (Juniperus communis) trunk. The larvae were collected in Gradac (South Dalmatia, Croatia).
