Stenurella bifasciata is a very common and widely distributed West-Eurasian flower visitor. Its larvae develop in decaying wood of both deciduous and coniferous trees in contact with the soil and also feed on tree roots and even on remains of roots of annual herbaceous plants or on coniferous cones. Most likely, S. bifasciata larvae can feed on any rotting plant material in the soil. Pupation in food substrate in spring and early summer, life-cycle 2 years. Adults, active from May to September, are diurnal and anthophilous [❖][▽].

Genus Stenurella Villiers, 1974 was divided into six subgenera (including nominotypical subgenus) by Hüseyin Özdikmen in 2013 [✧].
