Stictoleptura dichroa, a North-East Asian taxon known from Russian Far East, China, Japan and Korea, has been described briefly from China (Sichuan) as Strangalia dichroa by Charles Émile Blanchard in 1871 [▿] and subsequently from North Japan as Leptura succedanea by George Lewis in 1879 [★]. For decades, the taxa dichroa and succedanea were considered to be independent species, but according to Mikhail Danilevsky it is one relatively variable species [☆] replacing the Euro-Asian taxon Stictoleptura (Aredolpona) rubra (Linnaeus, 1758) in its distribution area.
