Stictoleptura tangeriana, an endemic species to Morocco, has been described from Tanger environs as Leptura tangeriana by Henri Tournier in 1875 [❖]. S. tangeriana is a very variable species in color, both red and completely black individuals are known. Larvae of this interesting, in Morocco widely distributed deciduous submontane and montane (up to 1800 m a.s.l.) forest species, develop in oaks (reported from Quercus suber). Adults, active in June and July, are diurnal and anthophilous [✧][▽].

The depicted mounted beetles were collected on flowers in: ♂A/♀A - Khenifra environs (1512 m a.sl., Middle Atlas Mts., Khenifra province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, Morocco) on May 14, 2023; ♂B - 12 km SE Tiddas (N33°28′38″ W6°11′36″; 880 m a.s.l., Jbel Mouchchene, Middle Atlas Mts., Khémisset province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Morocco) on May 15, 2011; ♀B+C/living ♂♂ - Oulmes (أولماس) environs (926 m a.s.l., Khémisset province, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Morocco) on May 23, 2023/May 21, 2022.Collected by David Navrátil, Walter Grosser and Petr Jelínek
