The first (upper) picture shows a bark less trunk of a dead Austrian oak (Quercus cerris) with shallow galleries created by larvae of Trichoferus pallidus (Olivier, 1790). The second picture shows a typical gallery, an old pupal cell and an exit hole created by Trichoferus pallidus in the bark of a dead oak. The third picture shows a praepupa of Trichoferus pallidus (ca 25 mm long) overwintering in its pupal cell.
