In Central Europe is Xylotrechus antilope a relatively abundant species in oak forests at lower altitudes, in mid-altitudes occurs only in xerothermic locations with residues of acidophilous oak-dominated woodland. Development in deciduous trees with strong preferrence of oak (Quercus ssp.). Larvae feed under the bark and in the dead wood of branches and trunks (see galleries in oak wood). Life-cycle 2 years with pupation in spring in the wood or in the bark. Adults, active from May to August, can be found on oak logs, fallen/felled trees or dead/dying standing host trees [▽].

The mounted beetles were collected in: ♂ - Pouzdřany environs (Břeclav district, South Moravia, Czechia) on June 18, 1994; ♀ - Jaroslav game reserve near Dobříkov (Ústí nad Orlicí district, Pardubice Region, Eastern Bohemia, Czechia) on July 2, 2006. The depicted living beetle was reared from larva found in a dead oak (Quercus sp.) in Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area (Central Bohemia, Czechia) in winter 2021.

The depicted beetles were photographed in Boří les (Valtice environs, Břeclav district, South Moravia, Czechia) on May 26, 2018 and in Soutok game reserve (Břeclav district, South Moravia, Czechia) on May 10, 2020, respectively.
