Xystrocera dispar, a striking representative of African entomofauna extending in the north of its distribution range to Arabian Peninsula [✧], has been described from South Africa by Olof Immanuel Fåhraeus in 1872 [▽].

Body length:15 - 30 mm
Life cycle:2 -3 years
Adults in:January - December (depends of region)
Host plant:polyphagous in broadleaf trees, in deserts often on Vachellia spp.
Distribution:Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Africa (Burkina Faso, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia, Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa)


The depicted beetle was collected in Wewelsburg Camping environs (S21°12′06″ E16°48′36″; 1400 m a.s.l, Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia) on February 10, 2023.
